French Bulldogs shed moderately all year, and the level can vary from one dog to another. Still, being a short-haired, single-coated breed, it is less likely to shed as much as some of the longer-haired dogs.

Many believe that Frenchies with lighter coat colors like white and fawn shed more than darker colors like black and brown. But it’s not true, as shedding does not depend on coat color. The source of this misconception may be that lighter colored hairs are much easier to spot on most surfaces like floor and carpet.
Pugs shed more than the Frenchies as they have a double coat, while the other has a single coat.
Shedding in the miniature variety is the same as that in a Standard Frenchie.
