What is the Lifespan of a French Bulldog

How Long Do French Bulldogs Live on an Average

According to the American Kennel Club, the average life expectancy of a French bulldog has been recorded between 10 and 12 years.

However, there has been a deviation in this number as per survey reports by various breed clubs. According to a 2004-survey conducted by the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Kennel Club (UK), the lifespan of Frenchies are from 8-12 years.

The teacup or miniature French bulldog lives for approximately 10 years, and if bred and maintained well, they may survive a little longer, for about 13 years.

A UK Medical Study conducted a review on 2228 Frenchies under veterinary care. It was deduced that about 72.4% (1612) of them had at least one recorded health disorder; conjunctivitis, diarrhea, skin problems, and ear infections being the common ones.

Most Frenchies die prematurely of breathing difficulties and other complications mainly because of their flat face.

Which is the Oldest French Bulldog to Ever Live

As per the American Kennel Club, a 14.5-year-old dog is the oldest Frenchie on record.

Pierre, from Canada’s Victoria, is 13 years old at present, and his owners are hopeful that he may soon touch the record of being the world’s oldest Frenchie.

Taking them for medical checkups, giving proper vaccinations routinely, and even monitoring their diet are measures that one can take to ensure good health.
