How Long Do French Bulldogs Live?

According to the American Kennel Club, the average life expectancy of a French Bulldog has been recorded as between 10 and 12 years.

However, there has been a deviation in this number as per survey reports by various breed clubs. According to a 2004-survey conducted by the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Kennel Club (UK), the lifespan of Frenchies are from 8-12 years.

The teacup or miniature French Bulldog lives for approximately 10 years, and if bred and maintained well, they may survive a little longer, for about 13 years.

A UK Medical Study conducted a review on 2,228 Frenchies under veterinary care. It was deduced that about 72.4% (1612) of them had at least one recorded health disorder, with conjunctivitis, diarrhea, skin problems, and ear infections being some of the most common health issues associated with this breed.

Most Frenchies die prematurely of breathing difficulties and other complications mainly because of their flat face.

Which is the Oldest French Bulldog to Ever Live?

As per the American Kennel Club, a 14.5-year-old dog is the oldest Frenchie on record.

Popeye, a French Bulldog that died of cancer in January 2021, was recorded to have lived for 18 years.

Taking your dog for regular medical checkups, giving routine vaccinations, and monitoring its diet may help to ensure a long and healthy life for your Frenchie.
